And while I’m on the subject of horror fiction inspired by Lovecraft, here’s a good interview with Thomas Ligotti on Fantastic Metropolis. Ligotti is a hugely fascinating writer to me, because his stuff is just so different from anything else out there. His work is just so breathtakingly creative. Its tough to run across his stuff because he doesn’t write novels — just short stories and essays — and a lot of his books are out of print. You really have to go out of your way to find him. In this interview he talks about dreams, drugs, film, his influences (Lovecraft, Poe, Nabokov (!!)), and whether you have to be extremely disturbed to be a great horror writer.

(I got it from Metafilter.)
