Technorati tags plug-in for MarsEdit

The divine Laura Lemay has given us MarsEdit users a great shortcut for adding technorati tags as keywords. I'm going to add some as I post this (from a bookmarklet) and then reopen the post in MarsEdit to activate the key words. If and when it works, ...

I got to thinking about the looping problem myself, and it turns out that Kevin Shay has written a loop plugin that would be perfect for the job. I'm going to try that approach in my own blog.

>AFAIK there's no way to iterate over multiple MTKeywords and
>bracket each in its own tag.

I hadn't even begun to think about RSS. Ack.

I suppose you would need to do this with an MT Plugin like MT-Perlscript and then include some code in the MT RSS template to do the iteration. Ben Hammersley does this with his del.icio.us tag generator.

Ah, I love it when I find other bloggers all thinking about the same things I am.

There seem to be lots of interesting hacks popping up for this; I use ecto and found an applescript to turn my categories into tags.

But what I really want is to get these on the server side in MT; I'll have to poke around at John's plugin to see what I can do with it. Since I'm using categories, not keywords, I want it to honor that but I want to do it server-side so I don't have to worry about having ecto put it in (since I'd then keep accidently deleting it).

I can see how this hack would be useful particularly for Blogger users, since Blogger supports neither keywords nor categories. Movable Type (which you appear to be using) supports both, and I've noticed that Technorati seems to be picking up my categorization from my RSS2 feed (which has that data in a parsable form), so this hack is not strictly necessary if you use MT and publish a feed.

If one wanted to use the Keywords field for tagging, it might be a little trickier to get a semantically correct category tag in the RSS2 feed: I think each keyword needs to be in its own element, and AFAIK there's no way to iterate over multiple MTKeywords and bracket each in its own tag.
